Meghalaya is planning to host the Northeast Food Show in collaboration with SIAL from December 4 to 6 this year.
The show will be organized at the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong.
This was informed during the first advisory council meeting of the Northeast Food Show held at a hotel in Shillong on Wednesday.
Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong was present at the meeting in place of chief minister Conrad K Sangma, besides chairman of the Meghalaya State Farmers’ Empowerment Commission, K N Kumar and officials of the Agriculture and Horticulture departments.
The chief minister who was to chair the meeting, had left for New Delhi to attend a meeting of all heads of political parties on ‘one nation one election.’
Director of SIAL India, Adalyne gave a presentation on SIAL and its activities in different countries including in India, which is the SAIL’s newborn baby.
She informed that the Indian Food Innovation Exhibition will be also organised by SIAL at New Delhi from September 19 to 21.
Tynsong in his opening remarks informed about the initiative taken by the Meghalaya government by creating the food processing directorate so that various products could be given value addition for the benefit of farmers.
Participants at the meeting stressed the need to add value to various products produced by Meghalaya and other states in the Northeast so that these products would be known across the country and other countries of the world.
