Troops of 12 Assam Rifles apprehended one woman drug peddler while carrying banned 12,000 WY (World is Yours) tablets worth approximately Rs 60 lakh at Khudengthabi Check Post located about 100 km south of Imphal in Manipur. This was informed by Assam Rifles sources.

“At 11:45 am on March 10, 2028, a silver coloured Maruti Eeco (NL-01H-9550) van was stopped for checking at Khudengthabi Check Post which was travelling from Moreh to Imphal,” the Assam Rifles spokesperson stated in a press communique, adding, “While frisking the passengers and carrying out thorough checking of their baggage, 12,000 WY tablets were found hidden inside a rice cooker of one of the passengers.”

The passenger, who was carrying tablets, has been identified as 40-year-old Thianglhim Vaiphei, wife of Malsawm Vaiphei of Gamnom Veng Binda Part 3 in Moreh under Tengnoupal district.

The recovered items along with the apprehended woman were handed over to the Moreh Police.

Meanwhile, a team of Churachandpur district police in Manipur based on an input recovered 2 kg of opium from the possession of a person identified as 27-year-old Lamminthang, who hails from Boljol village in Tengnoupal district on Monday, police sources claimed.

Earlier, police officers of the district detained a black coloured Maruti Alto car bearing registration No MN-02B-8567 and found the occupant – 43-year-old Md Nazir Ahmed of Kwakta village – with a cash amount of Rs 1,74,000, suspected to be the sale proceeds of drugs, the sources said.

A case has been registered under Section 18 of the Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act at the Churachandpur Police Station for further steps, sources added.
