Manipur, along with entire nation, is hoping and praying for a Gold from legendary boxer MC Mary Kom in the ongoing Olympics held at Tokyo. 

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh has wished Mary Kom success and said that the whole of India is praying for a Gold from her.

Biren Singh said: “Dear Mary, waiting for your Gold, praying for you along with 1.3 billion people of the Nation. Wishing you all the very best.” 

The Manipur chief minister said this while replying to tweet by Mary Kom, where she shared pictures of herself along with fellow athlete from Manipur Mirabai Chanu.

“Congratulations @mirabai_chanu. Emotional and happy to embrace each other. A proud Manipuri and a fighter for India in one frame,” Mary Kom’s tweet read.

Notably, Mirabai Chanu has already made India proud in the Tokyo Olympics. 

Mirabai Chanu won a Silver for India in the Women’s 49kg weightlifting. 

On the other hand, Mary Kom won her round of 32 bout on Sunday and advanced into the pre-quarter final of the 51 kg boxing event underway at the Tokyo Olympics.
