With 20 new COVID19 confirmed cases, the total number positive cases in Manipur increased to 1911 on Sunday.

There are a total of 676 active COVID19 cases in Manipur while the recovered cases stand at 1235, said official sources.

In the last 24 hours, 20 new COVID19 cases including 14 males and 6 females were confirmed.

The cases tested positive at VRDL of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS-11), Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS-4), District Hospitals of Tamenglong (3),Thoubal (1) and Mobile team Imphal East (1).

This was stated in an official statement issued by the COVID 19 Common Control Centre.

All the infected patients are being shifted to the COVID care facilities.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the statement said.

All, except two persons, one each from Imphal East and Thoubal district, are returnees from other states, it said.

In the past 24 hours, 53 persons have been discharged from COVID care centres at Meitram in Imphal West, RD wing Lamphel (8),Churachandpur (8),Thoubal (2),Kakching (12) and COVID care facilities, JNIMS (9) after they were found COVID 19-free on RT PCR test.

With the latest development, the cumulative number of positive cases in the state is 1,911.

The total numbers of active and recovered cases are 676 and 1,235, respectively, it stated.

The recovery rate is 64.62 per cent.

As on Sunday, a total of 3,08,973 persons were screened at various entry points of the state while 71,016 samples were tested for COVID 19, according to a latest report of the state surveillance officer of integrated disease surveillance programme, Manipur.

As per the report, altogether 56,850 have completed their quarantine while 3,657 were still at various quarantine centres in the state.
