Barely two days after detecting the third positive case of COVID-19, Manipur reported three more new positive cases late Saturday.

This was informed in a press releases issued by the state authority.

With the latest development, so far seven positive cases including the fully recovered first two cases, were reported in the State.

Thus presently there are five active cases in the State.

Spokesperson Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang who is the additional director of the Health department issued three separate press releases in this regard on Saturday.

The first press release issued on Saturday said the fourth positive which was confirmed on May 15 is a nursing professional returning from Kolkata and she is now admitted in Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).

Two more cases which are said to be the fifth and sixth cases (a 76 year old female and her 48 year son) in the State were reported as per the second press release.

Both the cases are said to be admitted at Covid Care Centre of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

On the other hand, the seventh positive case of the State was reported through a third press release issued by department spokesperson on Saturday night.

The release informed that a 22-year-old woman who came from Chennai on train, is found COVID-19 positive after testing at JNIMS.

With this, currently there are five active cases in the State, it said.

Meanwhile, necessary containment activities including ‘contact tracing’ have been taken up at that quarantine centre as per existing protocol, the release said.

It may be recalled that first two cases of COVID-19 in Manipur have already been discharged from the hospitals after they recovered during treatment last month.

On the other hand the third positive case is already undergoing treatment at JNIMS.
