This came to light when the state election authority published and released the integrated final photo electoral rolls of all the 60 Assembly Constituencies of the State in Imphal on Friday.

There has been steep rise in the number of third gender voters in Manipur. The integrated final photo electoral list of the state recorded increased number of third gender voters.

Altogether 88 third gender electorates were registered as on January 1, 2020 against 26 as on January 1, 2019.
The maximum number of third gender electorates were registered in Manipur’s Imphal East district (34) followed by Thoubal and Imphal West districts.

No third gender electorates were registered in Jiribam, Chandel and Senapati districts.

Similarly altogether 30,688 electorates were increased this time. At the same time, the number of service electorates has also been increased from 21,250 to 21,392 this time.

As per the final electoral roll of the state, the total number of voters in Manipur as on January 1 this year is 19,12,649 including 9,30,931 males and 9,81,630 females.

Speaking to reporters, Joint Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ramananda Nongmeikapam said voters can access the integrated final electoral rolls at the offices of the Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and booth level officers.

The final electoral rolls may also be accessed on the CEO’s website www.ceomanipur.nic.in, he said.

In the recent special summary revision which was held from December 16 to January 15 this year, the State election authority deleted as many as 7859 electorates from the electoral list.

The voters to population ratio has also been increased from 53.06 to 53.93 percent.

Imphal West district has the highest number of electorates with 3, 57,178 voters among all the 11 electoral districts while Jiribam district has the least number of electorates with 26,852.

Interestingly women electorates continue to outnumber men electorates in Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Chandel, Ukhrul, Kangpokpi, Tamenglong and Churachandpur districts while men electorates outnumber women electorates in Jiribam and Senapati districts.

Out of the state’s total electorates, 98 percent of the electorates were covered with elector’s photo identity cards.

Ukhrul district has the maximum coverage (99.2 percent) while Churachandpur district has the least coverage (97percent).
