Special observers assess Lok Sabha elections preparedness in Manipur

IMPHAL: Five special observers appointed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) convened meetings with officials to assess preparedness and security arrangements for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Manipur.

Among them, Dr Dhavalkumar K Patel, served as the general observer, Vaibhav Krishna, acted as the police observer, and Pradhuman Badari Prasad Meena, assumed the role of the expenditure observer.

These observers engaged with officials to evaluate election preparations and address related concerns in Manipur, according to Th Kirankumar, the returning officer for Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency.

The Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency, scheduled for polls on April 19 across 32 assembly segments, is under scrutiny by the visiting observers.

Additionally, the ECI has outlined guidelines for contesting candidates, their representatives, and recognized political parties in Manipur to liaise with the general observer, police observer, and expenditure observers regarding election conduct.

In parallel, for the Outer Manipur parliamentary seat designated for scheduled tribes, slated for voting on April 19 and April 26, general observer Ujjwal Kumar and police observer Vaibhav Krishna inspected Kangpokpi district on Wednesday.
