Manipur launches special health care scheme for poor along with rest of nation

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday launched the healthcare scheme Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana- Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY), a special health scheme for the poor in the State.

PMJAY is an initiative of the Central Government to ensure free hospitalization of the poor and vulnerable for serious illness with coverage of Rs 5 lakhs per family per year.

The scheme will provide cashless and paperless access to services for all the beneficiary at the point of service.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Biren said that such initiative of ‘our visionary leader Prime Minister would create a new history in the health sector of the country’.

He mentioned that around 50 crore people would be benefiting under this scheme in the country. It is a human oriented service scheme and doesn’t look on the basis of caste, creed, gender, religion etc.

Around 2.77 lakh families would be getting benefits from the PMJAY in the State, he added.

Reiterating that recently the health centres of the country are being converted into health and wellness centres with an objective of disease prevention, health promotion and improving human lives in the country, he said that people visiting the State has appreciated the improvement of law and order situation in the State.

In his address, Minister for Health and Family Welfare L Jayantakumar Singh said that human being is facing constant threat from various diseases throughout their life.

While mentioning that to make the PMJAY successful, all the concerned officials and other stakeholders should not make a single mistake in the implementation process, he appealed the officials to work sincerely for such noble cause.

During the function, the Chief Minister distributed Golden Record Card to selected 10 beneficiaries of PMJAY scheme.

Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Y Khemchand Singh, Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly K Robindro Singh, member of Parliament Ksh Bhabananda, MLAs H Dingo Singh, Awangbow Newmai, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, Director Health Services Dr K Rajo, Director of RIMS and JNIMS, representatives of various private hospitals and others attended the programme.
