With an objective not to leave out any voter in the upcoming Lok Shaba election 2019, the district election officers of Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Tamenglong of Manipur are all set to organize special camps.

In Tamenglong, special camps were organized at the polling stations of the three Assembly constituencies of Tamenlong – Tamei, Tamenlong and at Nungba the same will be organized on February 23 and 24.

The camp will facilitate verification of names and other details of already registered votes. It further directed all the recognized political parties to depute their booth level officers (BLO) to remain present at their respective camps so that they can assist the applicants in filling up the forms and guide the BLOs during this camp.

The district election officer of Tamenlong also urged all eligible un-enrolled citizens to avail this facility and to enrol themselves in the electoral rolls so that their voting rights are not deprived.

It further informed that the electoral photo identity card (EPIC) is only an identification document and does not guarantee the right to vote if the name of the person is not in the electoral rolls of the polling stations concerned.

All EPIC holders must check their names in the electoral rolls and fill up form six for inclusion of their names if it does not exist in the electoral rolls.

Similarly, special camps for special summary revision (SSR) for electoral rolls will be organized at every polling stations in Saikul, Kangpokpi and Saitu Assembly constituencies for be eligible voters on February 23 and 24.

The Additional District Election Officer (ADEO) Kangpokpi has instructed all EROs to personally monitor the camps and ensure presence of BLOs of their respective polling stations and complete the due process of law and disposes forms received during the camps within March 7 next.

The ADEO also further informed all the recognized political parties functioning within the district to depute parties nominated booth level agents to be present at their respective polling stations on the days of special camps.

Preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in respect of Churachandpur were underway as poll related activities and preparedness have been taken up almost on daily basis since the past many weeks.

As part of its preparedness for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, the district election officer/DC of Churachandpur Shyam Lal Poonia launched a mobile publicity van to carry out EVM/VVPAT awareness at different locations of the district. The mobile publicity van was flagged off by the DEO/DC on Wednesday around 9.30 am at his office premises.

Meanwhile, the team with the publicity van led by nodal officer, SVEEP Henkholun Doungel, carried out demonstration and awareness on various concepts of electoral process including EVM/VVPAT awareness on Thursday at Kangvai Bazar and Gothol Playground under the supervision of Lalrongbawl Hmar, sub-divisional officer of Kangvai.
