Imphal: A joint operation by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives in two militant hideouts across the state on Sunday.

Security forces conducted raids in Mission Veng, Kangpokpi district, and Uyok Ching Leirongthel Pitra hills in Thoubal district based on specific intelligence.

Encountering heavy resistance, militants fled the scene before the security forces could apprehend them.

The recovered arsenal includes a 12-bore single barrel gun, a 9mm pistol, a .32 pistol, two tube launchers, MK III A2 grenade, two detonators, six HE-36 hand grenades, three arming rings, two Chinese hand grenades, 65 live ammunition rounds, five tear smoke shells, a stun grenade, a helmet, a walkie-talkie, a 7.62mm SLR with magazine, a bolt action rifle, and two 12-inch single bore barrel guns.

The seized materials have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation.
