In a press release, NPO’s assistant secretary S Robin said that the proposed 24 hour bandh starting from 6am of June 27 has been called off in response to government of Manipur revocation of the transfer order of Superintendent of Police M Pradip of the district.

However NPO cautions against the state government of resorting to frequent transfer of posting of officers in the district in the future without rationalization in the larger interest of the people, says the release. NPO is committed to standing by the people of Senapati district and remain watchful towards their welfare, it added.

Earlier NPO and other district frontal organizations based in Senapati decided to impose 24 hours total shut down to protest against the frequent transfer and posting of officers in the district.

Senapati have been without with a full-fledged SP from August 2017 till January 2018 during which SP in charge Kangpokpi was overseeing Senapati too, nothing short of step motherly treatment to our people.

Senapati District inhabited by various ethnic groups and bordering other states is prone to law and order problems. The State Government cannot transfer the officers at their whim to gain political mileage.

Recently SP M Pradip Singh, who was posted in the district barely four months ago was transferred and replaced by Hopson Sapam on June 23, 2018. But it was revoked by another order issued by the state chief secretary Dr J Suresh Babu on June 25.
