The Poumai Baptist Church Delhi (PBCD) choir team won the 7th edition of the North East India Choral Competition title while the first and second runners-up titles went to the Tangkhul Church Delhi and Independent Church of India respectively, according to reports available here.

The 7th NEICC 2018 was held in order to celebrate ‘Togetherness’ of the North East India churches and fellowships running in the Capital through music at Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on November 4. The competition was hosted by the Tangkhul Christian Charitable Trust.

The choral competition saw several participants this year again, some making their debut,the organisers said when contacted. Agriculture minister V Hangkhanlian who is confidant of Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh, attended the occasion as Chief Guest. Aam Admi Party MLA Col Devender Sherawat also turned up to show his support to the North Easterners in Delhi.

Chairman Dr Kenneth Henson of the Bangalore Conservatory was the speaker for the occasion which has an audience of over 2000 people inside the indoor stadium.

The Four, Meyinlungsang Longkumer, Horchuila Langyza, Sochipem Kashak and Reisang Shimray and others performed various genres of music, ranging from blues to country gospel. A sensation in the social media lately with over a million views on YouTube- Jaijai Singsit even flew from Manipur and presented couple of songs.

It said that PBCD was the runners up in the 5th and 6th edition of the NE India choral competition.

On winning the choral competition title, the jubilant pastor and choir master of PBCD, R Ziisho Doumai said, there is no doubt that we are overwhelm by the victory. “However this rejoicing is for the glory of god and not to take pride in human perspective. We stood to testify God’s word through our song and we are glad that we have been blessed as the winner of the 7th NEICC 2018,” he felt.
