Newly sworn-in minister Awangbow Newmai who represents Tamei Assembly constituency in Manipur’s Tamenglong district, has been allotted the portfolios of Forest, Environment & Climate change and sericulture, according to official sources.
The state chief secretary Dr J Suresh Babu has issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday.

Consequently, the notification also mentions the portfolios allocated to the state chief minister N Biren Singh.
According to it, chief minister will be in charge of Home,Personnel planning,GAD,Vigilance,Transport,Minor irrigation,Tourism,Minority affairs,OBC & SC, InformationTechnology, Finance,Horticulture & Soil conservation, MAHUD,Science & Technology,Economics & Statistics and any other departments not allocated specifically.
It may be mentioned that Naga People’s Front (NPF) MLA Awangbow was sworn in as minister of the three-year old BJP led coalition government in the state amid the lockdown on May 29.

Manipur Governor Dr Najma Heptulla administered the oath of office and secrecy to Awangbow, who is also the NPF Manipur unit president in the day’s least attended swearing in ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
Soon after the swearing-in-ceremony, the newly sworn in minister Awangbow (52) had even informed the media that he will discharge his duties as a minister and whatever assignment has been given with utmost sincerity.
A resident of Takou village in Tamei sub-division who has master degree in Anthropology from North Eastern Hill University was also elected from the same constituency in 2007 assembly elections as an Independent MLA.
With his induction as minister, NPF which have four legislators in the state’s 60 member Assembly have two ministers in the coalition government.
Other minister was L Dikho of Mao assembly constituency.
