During her visit, Sharma met with representatives from the women’s wing of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI).

The group briefed the chairperson on the dire situation faced by women and children in relief camps, including psychological distress and disrupted education.

COCOMI also highlighted the plight of over 60,000 internally displaced persons, more than half of whom are women and children, since the outbreak of violence in May 2023.
