At a time when innocent people in Myanmar are being brutally killed by the Country’s “unprofessional and power hungry” military, the Northeast State of Manipur has issued ‘shocking’ directives to the administrations of the State’s districts bordering Myanmar.
People in hundreds in Myanmar are reportedly waiting to cross over to India via the States of Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh to avoid ‘slaughter’.

However, the authorities in the State of Manipur seems to have decided to turn a blind-eye towards the plight of the innocent Myanmar nationals, who seek take refuge in India to avoid ‘homicide’.
The Manipur Home Department has issued five (5) directives to the the district administrations of Chandel, Tengnoupal, Kamjong, Ukhrul and Churachandpur.
A confidential letter, dated March 26, has been dispatched to the deputy commissioners of the five districts in Manipur that shares border with Myanmar.

The letter, written by Manipur Government’s Special Secretary (Home) – H Gyan Prakash, consists of five directives.
“I am directed to request you to kindly take the following actions:
- District Administration should not open any camps to provide food and shelter.
- The Civil Society Organisations also should not be allowed to open any camps to provide shelter/food.
- In case of grievous injuries, medical attention may be provided on humanitarian considerations.
- People trying to enter/seek refuge should be politely turned away.
- Aadhar enrolment should be stopped immediately and Aadhar enrolment kits taken into safe custody.”
The Manipur Home Department has sought a “report on action taken” by the concerned district administrations by Tuesday (March 30).

It may be mentioned here that hundreds of innocent people in Myanmar have thus far in firing by the Country’s armed forces.
On Saturday, over 150 people lost their lives in firing. Saturday was the bloodiest day in Myanmar since the Country’s military staged a coup and took over reins of power from a democratically elected civil government on February 1.
