Imphal: The Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, stated that the governments at the Centre and the state are committed to and working towards the overall development of the northeastern states, especially the border state of Manipur.
On the second day of his visit, Sahu inspected houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas YojanaโUrban (PMAY-U) at Ward No. 7 under the Kakching Municipal Council in Manipurโs Kakching district. He also visited Salam Project Pukhri Achouba, which was rejuvenated under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0.
Thereafter, the minister interacted with members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the Deendayal Antyodaya YojanaโNational Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) near Leibaklei Gas and inspected the Moramba Solid Waste Management site under the Swachh Bharat Mission at Kakching Moramba, under the Kakching Municipal Council (KMC).
Following this, Sahu also inspected the Kakching District Hospital.
Tree saplings were planted at the DC Office Complex by Sahu along with Deputy Commissioner Kakching, Uppuluri Chaitanya (IAS), Superintendent of Police Kakching, Priyadarshini Laishram (IPS), and officials of the Kakching Forest Department.
On Saturday evening, Sahu was accorded a warm welcome by the Kakching district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya (IAS), along with SP Priyadarshini Laishram (IPS), upon his arrival at the Kakching Mini Secretariat. The minister was accompanied by Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar Singh and his staff.
Later in the afternoon, Sahu interacted with district-level officers and reviewed the implementation of flagship programmes by various government departments. Urging officers to implement these programmes sincerely, he said all suggestions were welcome and assured them of his support for the growth and development of the district.
