Manipur Governor Najma Heptullah on Saturday said air dispensary will be launched in the State during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the State for inauguration of the National Science Congress, next month.
She also said introduction of air dispensary in the State topped her priority list after she took over as Governor of Manipur.
She said this at the valedictory function of the third annual convention of North East Region of India Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Classic Grande, Chingmeirong.
Najma Heptullah also disclosed that daily flight services from Imphal to Delhi will start by first week of April.
She further said when there is some conversation on the North-east, it always ends at Guwahati.
“North-east India is beyond Guwahati (Assam), it has rich potentials for resources and Manipur is very much one of them,” she said.
Heptullah also urged the investors and delegates taking part in the summit to take note of these areas and do business for development of the region.
She also assured that the State Government will take the responsibility of infrastructure development.
The event was organized by Ministry of Commerce and Industry in association with International Chamber for Service Industry (ICSI) and Manipur Infrastructure Development Agency (MIDA).
Chief secretary, R R Rashmi while delivering the presidential address said services sector is what fills the gap of economy.
He pointed out that 60 per cent of state’s revenue comes from services sector and also is the most representative of growth.
He also said that Myanmar is an important neighbour for the State as well the country and need much greater push.
“There is a plan to make transport-transit agreement with the Myanmar government so that there can be smooth vehicle passage. Future just lies across the border and potential is infinite but needs the support from all sectors,” he added.
MIDA vice-chairman M Asnikumar Singh and director general of ICSI, Gulshan Sharma also attended the function as dignitaries.
The summit was inaugurated on Friday by State Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Myanmar Ambassador Moe Kyan Aung.
Delegates from all the north-eastern states and CLMV countries Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam participated in the programme.
