The State Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) and State Level Media Certification Committee have been constituted in Manipur.

The chief electoral officer (CEO) of Manipur, PK Singh, issued an order in this regard in respect of Manipur State for the ensuing 17th Lok Sabha election, 2019, official sources at Imphal said on Thursday.

The State Level MCMC consists of seven members led by Manipur CEO PK Singh as the chairman and additional CEO of Manipur T. Ranjit Singh as the member secretary.

An observer appointed by the Election Commission of India, H Balkrisna Singh, the director of Information and Public Relations; station director of AIR Imphal Dilip Mayengbam; senior consultant (SEMT) of Manipur Bankimchandra Maisnam and the Press Council of India nominated independent journalist /citizen are the members of the committee.

The State Level Media Certification Committee is headed by the additional CEO of Manipur as the chairperson.

Returning officer of the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency (DEO – Imphal West) and station director of AIR Imphal Dilip Mayengbam are the members of the committee.

Political parties, candidates and any other interested individual may contact the committees for any information related to media certification and other related matters.

In Manipur, the polling for Lok Sabha polls 2019, will be held in two phases.

Briefing the media persons recently, chief electoral officer of Manipur PK Singh said with the announcement of the election schedule by the ECI, the model code of conduct comes into effect immediately and would be applicable throughout the country in respect of all candidates, political parties, the state and the union governments.

For the first Phase, the notification for 2-Outer Manipur (ST) parliamentary constituency will be issued on March 18 while the last date of filing nominations is March 25.

In the the second phase, the polling for 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency will be held on April 18.

The notification will be issued on March 19.
