Ace footballer Loitongbam Ashalata Devi of Manipur has been nominated for the 2019 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Player of the Year (Women) award.

Devi, who hails from Manipur, has been instrumental in taking India to the 2nd qualifying round of the Olympic 2020 qualifiers and also has played a huge role in ensuring that the country wins the 2019 South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship title.

However, she is likely to face a tough competition for the prestigious award as two ace women footballers China’s Li Ying and Japan’s Saki Kumagai have also been nominated for the award.

Moreover, Devi’s skillls has also made her club Sethu FC emerged victorious in the Indian Women’s League (IWL).

She also won the Indian Women’s Player of the Year for 2018-19 season.
