With the detection of 170 new cases, the number of active cases of COVID 19 increased to 2,070 in Manipur which include 315 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) on Sunday, officials said.
“In the past 24 hours, 168 persons (103 male 65 female) from the general population and two personnel from CAPF were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases,” says COVID 19 Common Control Room Imphal in a press release issued on Sunday evening.

Five persons out of the general population are returnees from other states while the rest 163 are locals without any significant travel history.
They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities, it added.
On the other hand, 44 persons were discharged from CAPF,RIMS,JNIMS, COVID Care facilities of Tamenglong, Lamboikhongnangkhong, Senapati and Thoubal after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test in the past 24 hours, it said.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 8,894 including 1929 CAPF while the cumulative number of recovered cases is 6,767 including 1611 CAPF, it added.
The recovery rate is 76.08 percent.
Meanwhile, the state health department has appealed to the people of the state to self isolate immediately if contacted with a positive person and contact COVID Control Room or chief medical officer for testing stating together we can break the COVID chain.
