Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday said the total amount sought for relief by the state from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) amounts to Rs 432.64 crore in the aftermath of Mora cyclone in May 2017. However no fund has been released yet from the NDRF.
The chief minister was responding to question by opposition congress MLA Alfred Kanngam on ‘Mora cyclone relief fund’ in the ongoing assembly session on Monday.

Expressing serious concern about last year’s disaster after Mora Cyclone in the state, he also informed the House the central authority has recently assured that a sum of Rs 100 crore will be released as state share soon. “So necessary relief measures will be taken up in consultation with the respective district authorities,” he added.
He also informed the assembly that the state government is taking up necessary steps to introduce rope ways at different locations to promote tourism in Manipur.
The rope ways will be introduced at Langol City view, Heingang and Thanga areas in the state, he added while sharing his government’s development plans during the demand discussion on tourism sector.

Mentioning the uniqueness of Keibul Lamjao, the only floating national park, the rare game of modern polo, the state flower- Shirui lily, Kangkhui cave in the state, he said 120ft tall statue (of polo player sitting on horseback) will be installed at the complex of Lord Marjing at Heingang.
Earlier replying to a question by opposition congress MLA K Meghachandra, the chief minister said MDS (Manipur Development Society) has executed 11 components under integrated mega tourist centre at Kaina. The overall progress of work is 70 percent.
He also informed that around 40 schemes were undertaken by MDS in the state. But most of the schemes are lying incomplete. In order to find out the details necessary investigation is on and the government will try to complete the schemes as per the requirements, he added.
