A 37-year-old woman in Manipur’s Thoubal district has died just hours after taking the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
The deceased woman was administered Covishied vaccine at Sangaiyumpham Public Health Centre in Thoubal district of Manipur at around noon on Monday.
Soon after taking the vaccine shot, her health condition started to deteriorate rapidly and was admitted to the Thoubal District Hospital.
The woman breathed her last at around 5:30pm in the hospital.
The deceased woman has been identified as Kiranbala Devi and was a school teacher by profession.
She was also a mother to a seven-month-old child.

The family members of the deceased woman have claimed that she died due to aftereffects of the vaccine dose.
However, the real reason for the woman’s death is yet to be ascertained.
The body of the deceased woman was sent for autopsy at the JNIMS in Imphal, report of which is still awaited.
Meanwhile, the Biren Singh-led Manipur Government has assured formation of a one-man committee to probe the death of the woman.
