IMPHAL: In the midst of ongoing tensions in Manipur and following the recent attack on chief minister N Biren Singh‘s convoy, a grenade explosion occurred at the residence of a senior doctor at Porompat in Imphal East district of Manipur.
The incident took place on Tuesday (June 11) night.
According to Manipur police, the incident took place on June 11 at around 7:53 pm when unidentified assailants hurled two hand grenades at the rented residence of Dr M Amit Kumar, a neurosurgeon at JNIMS hospital.
One grenade exploded, igniting a four-wheeler vehicle parked in the compound, while the other grenade failed to detonate.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or casualties reported from the blast.
Authorities secured the area and safely defusing the unexploded grenade.
The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and the identities of the perpetrators have yet to be determined.
Manipur police has launched an investigation into the incident to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
