Guwahati: Pukhrambam Lilabati Devi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Dance and Music at Manipur University, has been selected for the prestigious National Award to Teachers 2026, recognising her contributions to education, Manipuri dance and cultural preservation.
Her selection has drawn appreciation from former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, who congratulated her on the national recognition and praised her work in teaching, research and promoting Manipur’s cultural heritage.
Singh said the honour was a matter of pride for Manipur and brought national recognition to the state’s rich artistic traditions.
He also expressed hope that the award would encourage more educators and artists to pursue their work with dedication and contribute to preserving and promoting Manipuri culture.
