Imphal: Manipur police have arrested two suspected cadres of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the armed wing of the banned Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), in a raid in Imphal city.
The militants were arrested on Thursday evening at the Majorkhul Thangal Bazaar, a bustling commercial area in Imphal.
According to police, the duo was apprehended while attempting to extort money from local businessmen.
During the raid, police seized Rs 7,930 in cash, a two-wheeler vehicle, four mobile phones, two wallets, two Aadhaar cards, and several extortion letters.
A police team conducted the operation after receiving intelligence about the PLA cadres’ activities in the area. The search, which lasted approximately three hours, led to the arrest of Kabrabam Inaobi Singh (47) and Yengkhom Bhogen Singh (50).
The arrested cadres and the seized items have been handed over to the City Police station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
