Manipur: Two militant hideouts destroyed, large cache of arms seized

Imphal: A team of security forces busted two abandoned camps illegally constructed by anti-socials at two hideouts and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition including weapons, IEDs and electronic detonators in Manipur.

The recoveries were made during the cordon and search operations at two districts Thoubal and Churachandpur during the past 24 hours.

However, no arrest was made in the operations, the police said on Thursday.

On Wednesday morning, the joint team first launched area domination in the fringe of Tekcham Maning Ching hills in Thoubal (valley) District, leading to the recovery of many warlike weapons. The confiscated weapons included one 7.62mm SLR along with an empty magazine, two SMG carbines along with 02 magazines, one .32 Pistol along with an empty magazine, one 9mm Pistol along with an empty magazine, one 51mm Para Bomb, four HE-36 hand grenade without a detonator, two Tube Launching, and electronic detonators.

The second operation conducted at Nalon village of Churachandpur (hill) district led to the seizure of several warlike weapons.

It included two large heavy calibre country-Mortar (Pompis), 80 Grenades, five  STARDYNE-90 explosives weighing 125 gm each, twelve live ammunition rounds, one Stun grenade, one Stinger grenade, two 38 mm rubber bullets, three tear smoke shells, one Dummy shell, a Stun shell, two tear smoke shell soft nose, one tear smoke shell (LR), and one Baofeng set.

The seisures items were later handed over to the Manipur police.
