Imphal: The Manipur Cabinet has approved the establishment of a State Climate Centre under the CITIIS 2.0 programme to strengthen the state’s climate resilience and support sustainable development.
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Babupara on Tuesday.
According to official sources, the proposed State Climate Centre will serve as a dedicated institutional mechanism to promote sustainable development, integrate climate-resilient strategies into infrastructure planning and enhance the state’s capacity to address environmental challenges under the CITIIS 2.0 framework.
The Cabinet also approved the Manipur Fire and Emergency Service Ordinance, 2026, which aims to provide a modern legal framework for fire prevention, emergency response and the delivery of fire and rescue services in the state.
In another decision, the Cabinet cleared amendments to the Unified Zoning and Land Use Regulation Bye-Laws, 2026 for Manipur’s Master Plan Areas. The amendments are intended to streamline regulatory procedures, facilitate planned urban development and improve the ease of doing business.
Following the meeting, Chief Minister Khemchand Singh said the Cabinet reviewed key policy matters and took decisions aimed at strengthening governance, accelerating development and improving public service delivery across the state.
The Cabinet decisions form part of the government’s efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, improve urban planning and enhance climate resilience in Manipur.
