Chief Minister N Biren Singh

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh has said that the state government will review the ongoing Suspension of Operation (SOO) with different insurgents groups of the state, TOI reported.

Clarifying on the suggestion for amendments on the governor’s address by different opposition MLAs in the ongoing session of the state legislative assembly, chief minister Biren Singh said this.

The tripartite SOO between the Centre, state government and around 25 different Kuki militant groups was signed in 2008.

The militants have been putting up at designated camps set up by the government in different Kuki-dominated areas of the state.

The government had also signed a similar ceasefire agreement with some proscribed outfit belonging to the Meitei community who are also staying at designated camps.

Clarifying on the Indo-Naga peace talks issue, Biren also said that the government is hopeful of a peaceful solution between the NSCM-IM and the Centre.

Chief minister Biren said the government is ready to take adequate measures to repeal the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act as the law and order situation in the state has improved considerably.
