Manipur to host two-day discourse on development of cinema

Cine Actors’ Guild Manipur is all set to organize two-day discourse on ‘Manipuri Cinema-Present scenario and measures for development’ at Tribal Research Institute auditorium in Imphal on September 14 and 15.

Announcing this during a press conference at Manipur Press Club in Imphal on Sunday afternoon, chairman Y Kumarjit of the discourse said that the main objective of the discourse is to find the remedial measures for the various improvement activities of Manipuri cinema.

Renowned film maker Aribam Syam Sharma will attend the inaugural function of the discourse on September 14 while chairman S Mangoljao of Film Forum Manipur (FFM), director A Shivdas Sharma of Arts and Culture Department will be the guests of honpur.

President Takhellambam Lokendra of Cine Actors’ Guild Manipur (CAGM) will preside the inaugural function.

Three speakers – social scientist Dhanabir Laishram, cultural activist Ningthouja Lancha and national awardee Haobam Pabankumar will speak on three different film related topics.

Convenor Ksh Tejkishwar participating in the press conference said that altogether six personalities will made six presentations during the first technical session of the first day.

The session will be chaired by film maker Aribam Syam Sharma.

The paper presenters of the first day sessions are Birendra Salam of FFM,L Surjakanta of All Manipur Film Producers Association, Premjit Naoroibam of All Manipur Film Makers and Producers Association, Kh Bishwamitra of Cine Director’s Guild, Meghachandra Kongbam of Cine artists and Technicians Association, Ksh Tejkeshwar of CAGM.

During the second day, altogether eight personalities will made eight presentations.

The presenters are Rajmani Ayekpam of Cine Writers’ and Playwright Forum, Hijam Angouba of All Manipur Cinematographers Association, Sanad Aribam of Cine Editors Guild, Nanao Khurai of Cine Make-up artistes and costume designers guild, Thangjam Birjit Meetei of Cine choreographers’ guild, A Premkumar of Cine Equipment handlers’ association Manipur, Naorem Sanaton of United Cinema hall exhibitors’ association Manipur and a representative of All Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup.

Informing that there will also be around three open forums wherein the paper presenters will respond to the questions by the invitees and delegates, convenor Tejkeshwar said that the invitees will also express their views and ideas in this open forum.

And finally comprehensive recommendations will be taken at the end of the open forums and groups discussions besides the deliberation by the experts in diverse fields, he added.

It may be mentioned that the Manipur State Cinema Policy was approved by Chief Minister N Biren Singh chaired state cabinet meeting on August 21, 2019.
