The honorarium for Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) and Mini Anganwadi workers in Manipur will be hiked with effect from October 1, 2018.

The government has also decided to offer performance linked incentive to Anganwadi helpers under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project.

The move of the government was welcomed by state unit of the all India trade union, reports said.

Social welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen said that the honorarium for AWWs will be increased from Rs 3,000 per month to Rs 4,500 per month, said a statement.

For Anganwadi workers at mini-centres and Anganwadi helpers, it has been hiked from Rs 2,250 to Rs 3,500 and Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,250 respectively.

There will be Rs 250 performance link Incentive per month for AWHs for facilitating proper functioning of Anganwadi Centres.

Claiming that various important welfare programmes and services were being initiated by them at grassroots level, minister Nemcha expressed happiness over the increase of honorarium for Anganwadi functionaries.

They contribute greatly for the welfare of all the Anganwadi beneficiaries and also in the socio-economic progress of the State, she added.

As per the reports of the state social welfare department, there are 11, 510 Anganwadi centres in Manipur, out of which 9958 are Main Anganwadi Centres and 1552 are Mini Anganwadi Centres.
