Manipur: Three KCP-PWG cadres arrested in Bishnupur

Imphal: Three suspected cadres of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party – People’s War Group (KCP-PWG) were arrested in Bishnupur, Manipur.

The police said that the suspects were arrested with arms, ammo, two motorcycles and some cash suspected to be extortion money.

Based on input from intelligence input that some armed men were extorting money from businessmen in the southern part of the state, the police launched an operation.

The cordon and search operation was successful with the arrest of three active cadres of the KCP-PWG.

The report said that the police arrested three active cadres of KCP(PWG) from a location in Bishnupur District while they were involved in extortion of money from the general public and government officials.

From their possession, one 9mm pistol with four live rounds, one demand letter of KCP(PWG), three mobile phones, Rs 5820 in cash, and two motorcycles were recovered.

A case has been registered in this regard and an investigation is ongoing, the report added.
