Security forces were on high alert at Shantong village.

Imphal: Three alleged cadres of the different underground outfits were arrested in operations along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district over the past 36 hours, official reports said on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip from across the border that some cadres of the insurgent outfits were trying to infiltrate Manipur, the Indian security forces were on high alert at Shantong village in the Tengnoupal district of Manipur.

In the operation, two alleged underground members of the proscribed Kanglei Yaol Kanba Lup, (KYKL) later identified as Thiyam Lukhoi Luwang (21 years) and Keisham Premchand Singh (24 years) were apprehended.

Moreover, another insurgent cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Noyol group) namely Inaobi Khundrakpam (20) was also arrested at Lamlong village in the same district.

However, no report of weapon seizure has been made from their possession, the report said.

The apprehended persons were later handed over to the concerned police station for further legal proceedings, the report added.
