Manipur KCP RPF arrests

Imphal: Security forces on Monday carried out a series of coordinated operations across Manipur, arresting three individuals allegedly involved in extortion and linked to proscribed insurgent groups, officials said.

In Kakching district, security personnel arrested Mayengbam Amitap Singh (32), also known by the aliases Mukabala and Khaba, from Wabagai Thingel Leikai under the jurisdiction of Hiyanglam Police Station. He has been identified as a self-styled Sergeant Major of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Peopleโ€™s War Group). A mobile phone was recovered from his possession during the operation.

In a separate operation in Thoubal district, security forces apprehended two alleged active cadres of the Revolutionary Peopleโ€™s Front/Peopleโ€™s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) from Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai under Yairipok Police Station.

The arrested individuals were identified as Yengkokpam Premchand (26), alias Chingsangakpa, and Moirangthem Naresh Singh (30), alias Chingsang. Authorities seized a two-wheeler scooter and three mobile phones from their possession.

Officials said the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to dismantle extortion networks and curb insurgent activities in the region. Further investigation is underway.
