Imphal: A gang accused of indulging in extortion campaigns and lifting two-wheelers from several people in the past few months has been busted with the arrest of three in Imphal, Manipur.
The arrested individuals have a criminal history, a police officer said.

The police said they recovered three sophisticated weapons, a stolen four-wheeler, and Rs 11,000 in cash from the accused.
Other gang members who are still giving slips to the law protestors are also to be trapped for arrest, the officer said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Manipur police raided an area at Lilong Chajing in Imphal West district at around 6 pm on Tuesday and managed to arrest the suspected while some others managed to their good escape from the scene.

Upon his interrogation, police recovered one 5.56mm INSAS LMG with one empty magazine, one 5.56mm INSAS Rifle with one empty magazine, one .32 pistol with one live round and magazine, three mobile handsets, one stolen four-wheeler vehicle, Rs. 11,000/- in cash and others miscellaneous items.
The arrested (alleged) gang members namely Athokpam Digson Singh (24), Maibam Suresh Singh (29), and Chanambam Naotomba Singh (21), and confiscated items are now in police custody for legal proceedings, the official added.
