Imphal: The Enforcement Team of the District Transport Office (DTO), Imphal East, with the assistance of the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Squad (AVLS) of Manipur Police and central forces, recovered a two-wheeler that had been stolen nearly five years ago, officials reported on Tuesday.
The Activa scooter was recovered during a joint operation conducted at Kongba Lairenpat in Imphal East district on Monday.
The vehicle, belonging to Moirangthem Aboy of Chalou Mayai Leikai in Imphal East district, was stolen on April 3, 2021. It was handed over to the rightful owner by Karam Naresh, District Transport Officer (DTO), Imphal East, along with the Enforcement Team at the District Transport Office, Imphal East, located at the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT). Aboy expressed his gratitude to the law enforcement authorities for safely recovering his vehicle.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Buyamayum Iliya Khan (29), a resident of Lilong Sangomshang and son of Jakir Huisen, was apprehended on charges of stealing a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 motorcycle at Canchipur near Manipur University, police said on Tuesday.
The arrest was made based on a complaint filed by Muhammad Musqur, a resident of Heibongmakhong Mathak Leikai, Maibam Konjil in Thoubal district.
Musqur lodged the complaint with the Officer-in-Charge of Singjamei Police Station, stating that his motorcycle, which had been parked on the roadside of National Highway 102 opposite Thongam iPhone Shop at Canchipur, was stolen on February 7, 2026.
The accused was produced before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, and was remanded to judicial custody until February 26, 2026.
