As part of the year-long Golden Jubilee Celebration of Manipur cinema, the Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) is all set for its second phase of honouring the pioneers.
A felicitation programme will be held on December 31, 2021 at the MSFDS Palace Auditorium, Palace Gate in Imphal, MSFDS said in a statement.

Manipur Governor La Ganesan will be present as the chief guest while Rajya Sabha MP Maharaj Sanajao Leishemba will preside over the programme.
The special attraction of the programme will be the screening of 2 critically acclaimed films – Romi Meitei’s ‘Motsillaba Mingsel’, a 13-minute short film and Ningthouja Lancha’s ‘Mami Sami’.
‘Honouring the Pioneers Programme’ is a special feature of the year-long celebration being held phase-wise to honour the pioneers, who have contributed significantly to the growth of Manipuri cinema.

“Altogether 31 pioneers are to be honoured by the chief guest and president of the function respectively,” the statement said.
The celebration committee has extended a warm invitation to one and all to attend the felicitation programme and join hands in honouring the pioneers of Manipuri cinema.
Screenings of the two critically acclaimed films will immediately follow the formal felicitation function.
The ongoing celebration of 50 years of Manipuri cinema is designed as a tapestry of film events to support film practice in Manipur at all levels for advancing the present status to the next level of sustainable growth.
During the 8-day inaugural programme of the Golden Jubilee celebration, held from April 9-18, 2021, altogether 17 pioneers were honoured.
The pioneers honoured were Deb Kumar Bose, director of the first Manipuri feature film, ‘Matamgee Manipur’, Manipuri filmmaker maestro Aribam Syam Sharma; film actors Yengkhom Roma, Ksh Rashi Devi and Kangabam Tomba; screenwriter/filmmaker/activist/actor Arambam Lokendra and film exhibitor Thongram Haridas.
Art direction & make-up artist Nagabam Swarnajit; playback singer Chongtham Kamala; story & screenwriter Laimatyum Dhanachandra Sharma; film activist & critic RK Bidur and producer/director Chan Heisnam.
Filmmaker L. Banka; film exhibitor/promoter Laishram Sanatomba Meetei; cinematographer/filmmaker Laimayum Surjakanta Sharma and film director/actor RK Kripa were also honoured.
