Manipur social welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen has tested positive for Coronavirus on Tuesday, sources said.
Minister Kipgen in a facebook post said that she has tested positive for the virus.
In her official facebook page on Tuesday, Minister Kipgen wrote, “After getting symptoms of Coronavirus, I got myself tested and the report came back positive.”
She also requested those who have come in contact with her in the past few days to kindly isolate and get tested at the earliest.
Minister Kipgen who is minister in charge of Kangpokpi and Senapati districts, had chaired a review meeting to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the presence of district officials in Senapati on August 20.
Earlier Congress MLA Md Fazur Rahim was tested positive for COVID -19 after he returned from New Delhi in the second week of August.
On Monday, 74 persons from general population and 42 from CAPF, were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the state’s tally to 5, 362, official sources said.
With the recovery of 97 cases on Monday, the recovery rate of the COVID 19 positive cases in Manipur has reached 69.24 per cent.
