Six persons including five police personnel and a civilian were injured when a bomb suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in Imphal Tuesday morning, according to police sources.
The explosion took place in front of a grocery shop in Thangal bazaar area at around 9:20 am, the source said.

Some vehicles parked near the explosion site besides some glass windows of the nearby buildings were also damaged due to the impact of the explosion.
The injured persons have been evacuated to a nearby private hospital for necessary treatment.
Hospital sources when contacted said that the condition of most of the injured persons is stable.

Meanwhile, the state police have registered a case to take up investigation.
In the meantime, the state chief minister N Biren Singh accompanied by the senior state police officers visited the explosion site and condemned the incident.
Later Biren along with DGP Manipur also visited the injured persons at the hospital.
