Imphal: Renowned shamanic art metal band Serpents of Pakhangba, considered a trailblazer of its genre in Northeast India, is scheduled to perform in Manipur at Imphalโ€™s The Venue by Elleโ€™s on January 3.

Organised with support from Extreme Entertainment, the event is expected to attract music lovers and fans of experimental and indigenous fusion sounds from across the region.

The performance was announced during a press conference at Hotel Imolesh, where band members shared details about their artistic journey.

Founder Vishal J Singh described Serpents of Pakhangba as a distinctive musical collective that combines ancient Meitei mythology, traditional narratives, and diverse indigenous instruments from multiple tribes into one cohesive musical expression.

He noted that while the bandโ€™s music is deeply rooted in cultural heritage, it also explores contemporary metal influences.

Singh added that the programme will include performances by other bands, such as Ereimang, Innocent Eyes, The Square, and more. He encouraged the public and music enthusiasts to attend and support the event.

Vocalist Takako Haremaki explained that sound acts as an ancient language, allowing emotions to be communicated beyond words.

She mentioned that the band draws inspiration from dragon deities in Japanese and Manipuri traditions and expressed excitement about sharing this cultural connection with the people of Manipur.
