IMPHAL: Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of arms and ammunition in the peripheral areas of three districts in Manipur, a collaborative effort involving the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and Manipur police initiated a series of search operations.

These operations in Manipur yielded significant results, with a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives being recovered.

Officials revealed on Monday (April 15) that the operations were conducted in the key locations of Imphal West, Thoubal and Kangpokpi districts in Manipur over the past 48 hours.

In Thoubal district’s Waithou Khongnang Kachin area, the joint team made notable recoveries, including one 5.56mm INSAS rifle, one 9mm carbine machine gun, one single barrel rifle, three grenades and assorted ammunition.

Similarly, in Kangpokpi district of Manipur, the team uncovered one 9mm carbine, one 9 mm pistol, one 70 mm calibre launcher, four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores during the operation.

Additionally, in an area of Sajirock village located in Imphal West district of Manipur, further seizures took place.

These included one CMG with a magazine, one 9mm pistol with a magazine, one Hy cal 70mm launcher, two locally-made pumpkin guns, two HE-36 hand grenades, four IEDs with iron containers, one 70 mm launcher round, fifty-two live ammunition rounds, and one Baofeng Set Motorola with charger.

All confiscated items were promptly handed over to the respective police stations in Manipur.
