Imphal: The central paramilitary forces with the state police busted a hideout of “anti-socials” and recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives in a counter-insurgency campaign in Manipur.
A police official said that acting on a tip-off that some “anti-social elements” were hiding their weapons in a camp, an operation was launched.

A joint team of the Assam Rifles and Thoubal district police station raided an area of Waithou hills under Manipur’s Thoubal district.

The operation was conducted on Sunday and ended with the recovery of one 9mm Pistol Along with a magazine, one HE-36 hand grenade, ten live ammunition rounds and one Smoke Grenade.

Upon reaching the location, the joint team launched the operation with the sniffer dogs.

The police said that the suspects fled from the scene and left behind the arms and explosive items after they saw the security forces coming towards them.
The weapons were unearthed from the busted hideout.
The confiscated items were handed over to the Thoubal police station for further legal actions, the official added.
