Manipur: Schools, colleges to reopen from January 27

Schools and colleges in Manipur are all set to reopen from January 27.

This was decided by the Manipur Government during a cabinet meeting, which was chaired by Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

The cabinet meeting decided that the schools in the State will reopen for students of class 9 to 12.

Colleges in the Manipur will also reopen from January 27, the Manipur Cabinet meeting decided.

Schools and colleges in Manipur will reopen from January 27 strictly adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Manipur Health Department.

The Manipur Government also decided to conduct elections to the six Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) and Urban Local Bodies soon.

Notably, this decision of the Manipur Government of conducting elections to the Autonomous District Council and Urban local bodies soon, comes amidst pressure from several groups and organizations in the State.

The terms of the six ADCs that cover all hill districts of the state expired in May 2020.

But the State Government had extended the terms for six months that too expired on November 30 last.

Elections to the six ADCs and Urban Local Bodies in the State were postponed by the Manipur Government due to COVID-19 pandemic.
