Manipur’s senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Saikhom Tikendra Singh has been appointed as the new president of the party’s state committee.
BJP National general secretary Arun Singh who is also the headquarters in-charge today issued an organizational appointment letter in this regard.
BJP National president Jagat Prakasjh Nadda has appointed Prof S Tikendra Singh as state president of Manipur BJP and the appointment comes into immediate effect, the party said.
Congratulating Prof Tiken on being appointed as party’s state unit president, chief minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday tweeted, “Congratulations to Prof S Tikendra Singh on being appointed President of
@BJP4Manipur.With his rich and long experience as a karyakarta of @BJP4India the party will surely progress under his leadership.”
68-year-old Prof Tiken is the third and last son of late panchay member Madhob of Nambol Sabal Leikai under Bishnupur district.
Post graduate degree holder in Philosophy, Prof Tiken who once teaches at Maharaj Bodhchandra College in Imphal and took voluntary retirement from service after 20 years of service and joined BJP in 1994.
Since then he started to work for the growth of the party.
He was the vice presidents of the state unit from 1995-2000 and 2000-2004 and later from 2009-2012.
Being a core committee member of the party’s state unit for 17 years, he was also the general secretary (administration) from 2006-2009.
At present he is the chairman of state disciplinary action committee and chief spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh.
