Manipur government is planning to take up the construction work of District Hospitals at Imphal East and Imphal West.
Speaking to the media on Friday, the Additional Director Health Dr S Manikanta said, the land has been acquired by the Government.
Highlighting the achievements of the present Government he said the 50-bedded new building of District Hospital Chandel and Tamenglong has been inaugurated.
Ten Advanced Life Support Ambulances has been procured and deployed mostly in hill districts.
The Government has launched a health assistance scheme for BPL families, widows and disabled persons namely “Chief Minister gi Hakshelgi Tengbang” has been launched, under which cashless treatment upto Rs. 50,000 for common ailments and upto Rs 2.00 lakh for certain critical illness is assured.
He further informed that for better health care services in the state the Government has approved the establishment of 8 new District Hospitals, ten CHCs, fifteen PHCs, and nine Urban Primary Health Centres.
He further informed that to overcome the shortage of the specialist doctors in the State, Government has increased the retirement age of specialist Doctors to 65 years. T
The Government has approved recruitment of 300 MBBS Doctors and 11 Dental surgeons and recruitment process is underway.
As a new initiative the total annual intake capacity of MBBS seats at JNIMS has been increased to 150 from 100. Initiative has also been made to introduce Helicopter Ambulance Service for the interior hilly regions, he added.
On the other hand Dr T Manihar, an ENT specialist informed that there are 39 registered private hospitals and clinics in the state and a total of 24 hospitals including 21 outside the state and 3 inside the state were in government’s empanelled list.
Interestingly 10 advanced life support ambulance were procured and deployed in the hill districts while five hearses (mortuary vans) were also procured for transportation of dead bodies especially for hill districts and far flung areas. Besides 18 ventilators are under the final process of procurement to provide respiratory support during epidemics in the state.
