Manipur reports 118 new COVID-19 positive cases in the past 24 hours, taking the state’s total tally to 5,843 on Friday, health department officials said.

According to a press release issued by the Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, additional director and spokesperson of the health department on Friday evening, 81 persons (43 male,38 female) from the general population and 37 from the Central Armed Police Force were confirmed positive in the past 24 hours.

They are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur, Senapati, Churachandpur and Tanegnoupal, the release said.

Two persons (one each from Kakching and Churachandpur)out of the general population are returnees from other States, while the rest 79 are locals without any significant travel history, it said, they are being shifted to COVID care facilities.

Two persons including 55-year-old Army male and 40 year old female expired at JNIMS due to COVID-19 and other co-morbid health conditions in the last 24 hours, the release said.

The cumulative number of deaths is 27.

In the past 24 hours, 100 persons were also discharged from various COVID care facilities of the state, the release added.

The cumulative number of recovered cases now stands at 4,057 while the number of active cases is 1,759.

The recovery rate is 69.43 per cent, the release added.

Meanwhile, the health department informed that one can consult government doctors from home (10 am to 3 pm daily except Sunday) by contacting through eSanjeevaniOPD app or via www.esanjeevaniopd.in.
