Two more deaths and 82 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in the past 24 hours in Manipur, informed state health department sources.
The death toll in the state due to COVID-19 and other co-morbid health conditions is currently 24.

The COVID-19 tally in the state has risen to 5,444.
“In the past 24 hours, 74 persons (37 male, 37 female) from the general population and 8 from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed positive,” said COVID 19 Common Control Room in a press release on Tuesday evening.
They are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Chandel, the release said.

“Four persons out of the general population are returnees from other States, while the rest 70 are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to COVID care facilities,” the release added.
“In the last 24 hours, two females aged 73 years and 41 years expired at the RIMS due to COVID-19 and other comorbid health conditions,” the release said.
“The cumulative number of deaths is 24,” it said.
It may be mentioned that the State reported its first death due to COVID-19 on July 29 while the first case of COVID 19 on March 24.
In the past 24 hours, 99 persons were also discharged after recovery, it stated.
They are from CAPF, RIMS and six other COVID care centres in the state.
The cumulative number of recovered cases now stands at 3,812. The number of active cases is 1, 608. The recovery rate is 70.02 per cent, the release added.
As of Tuesday, a total of 3,39,286 persons were screened at various entry points of the State, while 1,37,384 individuals were tested for COVID-19 at various testing centres in the State, latest IDSP(Integrated Disease Surveillance Program) status update report on COVID 19 said on Tuesday.
