COVID19 positive

Manipur on Wednesday recorded its biggest single-day tally of 141 COVID19 cases including 24 females, bringing the state’s total infection tally to 2,458.

The new COVID19 positive cases were confirmed at various Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratories (VRDLs).

While 12 cases were confirmed at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), 78 cases were confirmed at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).

The cases were confirmed at the district hospital of Thoubal (7), Churachandpur (9), Tamenglong (4), Babina Diagnostic Centre (2), 1st MR (3) and Imphal West RAT(26), according to a statement issued by the COVID19 common control room.

The infected patients belong to the districts of Imphal West (30), Churachandpur (51), Thoubal (8), Imphal East (7), Bishnupur (2), Senapati (29), Kakching (7), Kamjong (3) and Tamenglong (4), the statement said.

The risk factor and travel history of most of the positive cases are under investigation and are being awaited, it added.

The patients are being shifted to the COVID care facilities.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the past 24 hours, 38 persons were discharged from JNIMS (6), COVID care centres of Meitram (16), Ukhrul (7) and Thoubal (9) after they were found COVID19 free on RT PCR test, the statement said.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 2,458.

The numbers of active and recovered cases are 805 and 1653 respectively.

The statement said a resident of Sapam in Manipur’s Thoubal district was admitted to RIMS on May 5 with multiple health issues like chronic kidney failure, long standing type 2 diabetes Mellitus, Urosepsis and hypertension adding that he was found COVID19 positive on July 26.

He expired at RIMS around 2 am on Wednesday, it added.

So far 3,18,696 people were screened at various entry points of the state while 83,111 samples were tested for Covid-19, according to the latest report of the state surveillance officer of the integrated disease surveillance programme.
