Manipur pre-poll violence: BJP worker, security personnel shot dead

Election-bound Manipur has been rocked by yet another pre-poll violence.

One BJP workers in Manipur and a security personnel have allegedly been shot dead, in what is suspected to be an incident of pre-poll violence.

The two deceased have been identified as Abujam John, a BJP worker and Sashikanta, an IRBn personnel.

John is stated to be a close associate of Manipur agriculture minister O Lukhoi.

The two persons were shot dead by miscreants at Samurou in Imphal West district of Manipur late on Sunday night.

Samurou area falls under Wangoi Assembly constituency from where the Manipur agriculture minister is a sitting MLA.

While, 59-year-old Abujam John died on the spot, Sashikanta succumbed to his injuries at Raj Medicity hospital in Imphal on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, Manipur chief minister Biren Singh, on Monday morning, visited the family members of the victims.

Police have launched an investigation into the case.
