Imphal: Manipur Police deployed along the Assam border have cracked down on illegal liquor sales and seized bottles of local Distilled Indigenous Country (DIC) liquor and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) after arresting one individual on Thursday.

During the operation, which aimed to ensure public safety and prevent potential incidents related to alcohol consumption, Jiribam Police arrested a wine seller identified as Krishna Mohon Namasudra (55), a resident of Latingkhal Part-II in Jiribam district.

He was apprehended from his residence along with local Distilled Indigenous Country (DIC) liquor and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).

The following items were seized from his possession: 20 (twenty) litres of Distilled Indigenous Country (DIC) liquor and 44 (forty-four) bottles of different brands of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), each measuring 180 ml.

The police report stated that the arrestee was booked under the relevant law, and the confiscated items were later handed over to the State Excise Department for further legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, security forces continue to conduct search operations and area domination in fringe and vulnerable areas across districts.

Movement of 178 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37, linking Imphal to Silchar in Assam via Jiribam, Manipur, has been ensured.

The police added that strict security measures are being taken at all vulnerable locations, and security convoys are being provided in sensitive stretches to ensure the free and safe movement of vehicles.
