Imphal: Manipur Police, in coordination with Delhi Police, central security forces and district commandos, carried out a series of operations across the state within 24 hours, resulting in the recovery of an inter-state stolen vehicle, seizure of a large consignment of codeine-based cough syrup and arrest of several cadres and extortionists linked to banned outfits.
Acting on a request from Delhi Police, a team from Churachandpur police station traced and recovered a stolen black Hyundai Creta bearing chassis number MALPB812TRM768626*D and engine number G4FLRV760297. The vehicle was handed over at Kangvai to a team from Uttam Nagar police station in Delhiโs Dwarka district. The coordinated action highlights increasing cooperation between security agencies to tackle inter-state vehicle theft networks.
In a separate intelligence-based operation, personnel from Heingang police station and Imphal East commandos conducted a raid at Mantripukhri Bazar on Tuesday.
Three persons identified as Mohammad Akilur Rahaman, 28, Aribam Iftar, 21, and Md Iqubal Khan, 44, were arrested during the operation. The team seized 142 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, including 116 bottles of Cody Late and 26 bottles of DelStal, with each bottle containing 100 ml. A Hyundai i20 bearing registration number HR 26BB 8564 was also recovered.
Security forces also conducted targeted operations in several districts, leading to the arrest of alleged active cadres and extortionists associated with banned outfits. In Imphal East, Yensembam Anao Meitei, 23, allegedly an active extortion cadre of the banned KCP (MFL), was arrested from Kongba Lairenpat.
In another operation, Wakambam Rahul Meetei alias Thenao, 27, an alleged cadre of KCP (Apunba), was apprehended from Porompat Soibam Leikai.
In Kakching district, security forces arrested Sanasam Amumacha Singh alias Solomon, 46, an alleged active member of the proscribed RPF/PLA, from his residence under Waikhong police station. A juvenile allegedly involved in extortion and linked to the banned UPPK was also detained from Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai.
In Thoubal district, another alleged UPPK-linked extortionist was arrested from the Khongjom area.
Police said all arrested persons and the seized items were handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal proceedings.
